A man from Germantown received a Racetrax recommendation from a friend a few years back to play horses 9, 10, 11 and 12, which have the longest odds of finishing in the money and the highest potential payoffs. The advice was imparted by a person who claimed to have won a substantial sum betting that combination.
The player decided take his friend’s advice on Nov. 7 and ended up winning $62,576, thanks to a superfecta box bet.
It was on that day when he was in Gaithersburg that the winner stopped at My Dollar & More at 250 North Frederick Avenue. He placed a 10 cent superfecta boxed bet for the horses to finish 9, 10,11 and 12. Strictly speaking, this is a 10-cent bet for each of the four horses to finish in each of the first four spots, and covering all of the possible permutations, ranging from 9, 10, 11 and 12, to 12, 11, 10 and 9.
Because all the combinations were covered, when the horses finished 12, 9, 10, 11 for the race that was played, his $4.80 bet paid $62,576.
The player was stunned later that day when he checked the results on the Maryland Lottery app on his phone and saw his he had won. The player, an engineer by trade, enjoys being able to help those in need. Thus, he plans to use his winnings to donate to the less fortunate.
My Dollar & More will receive a $625 bonus for selling a winning ticket worth $10,000 or more; the bonus equals 1% of the prize value.
