Retired hospital worker thankful for big score
The winnings from a $50,000 Pick 5 score will enable a casual Maryland Lottery player from Clinton to take care of her family.
“I’m going to pay on my house and will be helping my children and my grandkids,” said the 81-year-old. A retiree, she worked for 30 years at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. and says she is thankful for the big win.
The mother of three and grandmother of six bought her lucky Pick 5 ticket on Feb. 25 at Clinton Crossings Exxon, 8915 Woodyard Road in Clinton. She placed a $1 straight bet on the numbers 22191 for the Feb. 25 evening drawing and Feb. 26 midday drawing. For selling the winning ticket, the Prince George’s County business receives a bonus of $500 from the Lottery. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize.
This is one of eight $50,000 winning tickets sold in the Lottery’s new Pick 5 game. Sales began Feb. 7.
