The new $5,000,000 LUXE scratch-off went on sale on Feb. 6 and the first big winner claimed a $50,000 third-tier prize a few days later on Feb. 23. The winner is a Greenbelt woman, who claimed the prize on the $50 game.
“I liked it because it was a new game,” the big winner said when she claimed the prize.
According to the food service worker, she went into the store to purchase two tickets. She scanned both and saw she had a $50,000 winner.
“It was amazing and very exciting,” she said with a smile.
The Prince George’s County resident said the money will come in handy, helping her pay some of her daughter’s college expenses.
She bought the prize-winner at the Spring Hill Lake Mini Market at 9240 Spring Hill Lane in Greenbelt.
The $5,000,000 LUXE scratch-off has the three top prizes of $5 million each, all of which remain unclaimed. There are also 10 prizes at the $200,000 second-tier level, all of which remain unclaimed. The Greenbelt mother is the first to claim a $50,000 winner, and another 11 third-tier prizes are unclaimed on the game.
