Helping Hand Lands Eastern Shore Man a $50,000 High Five-Digit Prize

Talbot County resident wins in March 21 Pick 5 drawing

A generous man who’s quick to offer a helping hand got a high five from Lady Luck this week, landing a $50,000 Pick 5 prize.

The 63-year-old Eastern Shore resident visited Khan Enterprises located at 110 South Washington Street in Easton to place his bet. He’s long been an avid Lottery player and won a $30,000 prize a few years ago. He switched from Pick 3 and Pick 4 to Pick 5 when the Maryland Lottery launched the game in February 2022.

For the March 21 evening drawing, the Talbot County man played 10609 straight for $1. His Pick 5 number selections are based on the date of birth of a close friend and, he said, were reaffirmed when he saw a car with 10609 on the license plate.

Whether it was paying for a funeral of a friend or helping a random stranger on the side of the road, the loyal player said he “enjoys helping people.” He plans to use his winnings to pay off bills and refinance his car loan.

The Talbot County Lottery retailer, Khan Enterprises, will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for its role in selling a $50,000-winning Pick 5 ticket.
