‘Holiday Luck’ Wins $50,000 Powerball Prize on Easter Weekend

“Holiday Luck” of Silver Spring won a third-tier $50,000 Powerball prize over the Easter holiday weekend.

Silver Spring resident found Lottery luck in Saturday drawing

A Montgomery County man received an eggs-traordinary surprise over the Easter holiday weekend, winning a $50,000 third-tier Powerball prize.

The Silver Spring resident, who is calling himself “Holiday Luck,” bought a $10 quick-pick ticket in the Saturday, March 30 drawing. He checked the winning numbers on his phone, but did not realize how much he had won.

“Holiday Luck” thought he saw a match of three numbers and the Powerball. However, when he scanned his ticket for a win at a local Lottery retailer, the scanner revealed he won $50,000.

“When I went back to look, I realized that I had four numbers and the Powerball,” he said with a smile.

The winning Powerball numbers for the March 30 drawing were 12, 13, 33, 50 and 52 with a Powerball of 23. “Holiday Luck” had a 9 instead of the winning number of 50.

He bought the lucky ticket at Silver Spring’s Long Branch Beer & Wine, located at 649 University Boulevard East in Montgomery County. In addition, Saturday’s drawing generated another $50,000-winning Powerball ticket sold in Lutherville-Timonium and a $150,000-winning ticket with Power Play sold in Street.

Because no one hit the jackpot on Saturday or Monday, the estimated jackpot annuity for the Wednesday, April 3 drawing is $1.09 billion. The estimated cash value is $527.3 million (before taxes).

“Holiday Luck” plans to use his prize to pay bills. The hotel worker noted he plays Powerball when the jackpot gets high and will keep playing. “It was exciting. It is always fun when you win,” said “Holiday Luck.”
