Home Renovations on Dundalk Couple’s Radar after $50,000 Lottery Win

Kathleen and Douglas Harding, of Dundalk, are looking forward to some house renovations after Kathleen won $50,000 on a $20 MONOPOLY™ X100 scratch-off.

A casual Lottery player from Dundalk was anything but casual when she realized she won $50,000 on a $20 MONOPOLY™ X100 scratch-off.

“I was shocked when I won,” Kathleen Harding said Oct. 6 after she claimed her prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore, husband Douglas at her side.

“Now I can fix up my house,” she said. The house had belonged to her mom, who was reluctant to have any work done on it.

“She didn’t like change,” Douglas said.

Kathleen’s interest in playing the lottery lies with the prospect of winning money, she said, but her previous personal best wins have all been in the $100 to $200 range.

Douglas, meanwhile, has hit for more, winning $10,000 on one occasion and $5,000 on another. She’s exclusively a scratch-offs player, while “he plays both,” she said.

Asked if she’d continue playing after hitting big, she said, “Yeah! Why stop now?”

She bought her winning ticket at Rossville Sunoco at 8730 Pulaski Highway in Rosedale.

The MONOPOLY™ X100 has a top prize of $1 million, of which two remain unclaimed out of the original six that were available when the game started in January. The game’s second-tier prize is $50,000, like the one Kathleen won, and two of those remain unclaimed as well. The game also has tens of thousands of other prizes ranging from $20 to $10,000 still in contention to be won.
