A Hyattsville man finds himself playing Maryland Lottery games once a month. In October, his Lottery activity came about as he was making his way from home from work. He stopped at a gas station and selected a $10 High Voltage scratch-off ticket.
He couldn’t believe it at first when he learned that he had purchased a $100,000 top prize winner.
He bought his ticket from the Marathon Gas at 7600 Annapolis Road in Lanham, and claimed the prize on Oct. 16 at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. He was still struggling to wrap his head around winning so big with his once-a-month strategy.
The Hyattsville winner is a carpenter who enjoys fishing in his spare time. He says he’ll be putting his winnings into savings.
Marathon Gas receives a $1,000 bonus as the retailer that sold a $100,000 top-prize winning scratch-off ticket.
The High Voltage scratch-off was launched in August. It began with eight $100,000 top prizes. There are six remaining unclaimed.
