Brian Hutchison, of Joppa, plans to take a cruise after winning $50,000 on the 100X the Cash scratch-off.
Brian Hutchison is an avid Maryland Lottery player and is particularly fond of $20 scratch-off tickets. During the weekends especially, he and his girlfriend like to pair up and play scratch-offs together. This recently led to him to win a second-tier $50,000 prize on the 100X the Cash game.
He claimed his prize Jan. 23 at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore and told the story of his win.
While making his way to said girlfriend’s house, he made a stop at the Wawa at 3500 Woodsale Road in Abingdon. Always on the lookout for newly released scratch-offs, he saw that the $20 100X the Cash game was launched a few weeks previously and decided to give it a try.
When he first scratched his ticket, he overlooked the $50,000 prize, which matched the number nine. But like a true Lottery aficionado, he didn’t throw away his ticket. Instead, he scanned it using the Maryland Lottery app and that’s when he was blown away by discovering the big win. He shared the great news with his girlfriend, who also got a jolt.
Brian works as a government contractor. He and his lottery partner plan to use the winnings to take a cruise vacation. When he’s not working, he and his significant other enjoy traveling together.
The 100X the Cash ticket has a top prize of $1 million, of which six remain unclaimed. The game started with three second-tier prizes of $50,000 and Brian’s is the first of those to have been claimed.
