Lanham Man Plans to Help Family After $500,000 Lottery Win

A regular Maryland Lottery player from Lanham claimed the second of five top-tier $500,000 prizes on the $20 scratch-off game Bonus Bingo X20 2nd Edition.

“I have a large family. I guess I’ll be helping them out and investing,” the winner said May 14 after claiming the windfall at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

He made his Lottery purchase at Village Pump Liquors, 4901 Greenbelt Road in College Park, and the retailer receives a bonus of $1,000 for selling the lucky ticket.

On the market since Feb. 10, the game is one of several bingo-themed scratch-off tickets, a style that is popular with a large contingent of Lottery players. In addition to the three remaining $500,000 top prizes, as of May 14, Bonus Bingo X20 2nd Edition also has five unclaimed $50,000 tickets, 34 remaining prizes at the $10,000 level and tens of thousands more ranging from $20 to $5,000.
