Laurel Lottery Player Scores $36,490 Win Playing Racetrax

Superfecta quick-pick ticket does the trick

A Lottery player from Laurel who enjoys a variety of games and switching up his approach picked up a $36,490 win on the computer-animated simulated horseracing game Racetrax.

While he has a set of numbers he sometimes uses to play Racetrax, when he placed his bet on Aug. 23, he used the Quick Pick function on a Superfecta straight bet of $1 for 10 races.

The sixth race out of the 10 did the trick, as the top four horses to finish were 5, 9, 6 and 8 — the exact order he had on his ticket.

“On my numbers, I didn’t do too well.  On the Quick Pick, I did,” he said Aug. 25 while claiming his prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. In addition to Racetrax, he enjoys Pick 4, Mega Millions, Powerball and Multi-Match. His Racetrax win is his biggest to date, though he previously hit on a different game for $5,000.

He plans to use the winnings to help pay for a new car for his wife. Asked if he plans to continue playing, he said, “Of course. It’s something to do.”

Also celebrating is the retailer that sold the lucky ticket. 2 Go Convenience & Deli at 9016 Washington Boulevard in Savage will receive a bonus of $364.90, equal to 1% of the prize.
