Second Laurel Lottery millionaire in past week
A Laurel man stops by his local Lottery retailer weekly to purchase scratch-offs, but his last visit turned out a little differently. He walked out with a $1 million winning ticket.
According to the Prince George’s County winner, he goes to the Giant #340 at 1009 Fairlawn Street in Laurel to play scratch-offs. Last week, he purchased a $20 $1 Million Royale ticket and scratched it while still at the store to see if he was a winner. He had won prizes of $100 and $200 on other games in the past, but noticed he was a much bigger winner this time.
He revealed a “diamond” underneath his number, which meant he was guaranteed the prize – $1 million – without having to match it to any of the winning numbers. He knew he was a winner, but scanned the ticket at the store for official verification.
“I was excited and a little nervous at first. I didn’t tell anyone,” the big winner explained.
The construction worker is undecided on how to spend his prize but said it is a game changer.
“This is a lot of money. It’s life-changing money. I am going to be smart with it,” he told Lottery officials.
Laurel is becoming a hot-spot for millionaires as another Laurel man won $1 million ticket on 100X The Cash.
The Giant Lottery location was glad he stopped in to play as the Laurel store will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning scratch-off.
This is the third top-prize winner for $1 Million Royale. Four $1 million prizes and four $50,000 second-tier prizes are still unclaimed. There are other prizes remaining ranging from $20 to $10,000.
