Claims top prize on new scratch-off game
A Prince George’s County scratch-off fan spotted the new MONOPOLY™ X20 instant ticket last week and decided to try his luck, since the game just went on sale on Jan. 17.
The 64-year-old was visiting Town Center Liquors in Laurel and decided to stay and scratch off the $5 game in the store. When he revealed a $50,000 top prize, a celebration ensued!
“He was very excited,” said his wife, who also loves playing scratch-offs and who accompanied him to Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on Jan. 24 to claim the prize.
The couple said some of the prize money will go toward their daughter’s 16th birthday party, and the rest will go into their savings account.
Also celebrating the big win is the lucky Lottery retailer. Town Center Liquors located at 13334 Laurel-Bowie Road in Laurel will receive a $500 bonus for selling a top-prize winning scratch-off worth $50,000.
The MONOPOLY™ X20 game, which has nine $50,000 top prizes remaining, is part of the MONOPOLY™ Second-Chance Promotion from the Maryland Lottery. The following scratch-offs joined the $5 instant ticket: $1 MONOPOLY™ X5, $2 MONOPOLY™ X10 and $10 MONOPOLY™ X50. In addition, two FAST PLAY games were introduced: $3 MONOPOLY™ Game Tokens and $20 MONOPOLY™ Properties.
Players can enter any non-winning MONOPOLY™ scratch-off and winning or non-winning FAST PLAY MONOPOLY™ tickets into My Lottery Rewards for a chance to win cash prizes. Six drawings will take place, with each drawing awarding one Rolling Cash Jackpot and ten $2,500 prizes. A Rolling Cash Jackpot is a prize that starts at $2,500 at the beginning of each promotion period, and grows until the drawing date. Additional information is available at mdlottery.com/monopoly.
