It took a visit with family to finally put a Prince George’s County woman in the right place to find her lottery fortune. It also took a WILLY WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY™ FAST PLAY ticket and a bit of patience. On Sept. 28, this combo delivered a $100,000 top prize win to the grocery store manager.
“I almost walked out,” the happy Laurel resident said when she visited Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on Oct. 1 to cash in her big win. She said she was decidedly unhappy as she stood in line to use the lottery vending machine at a 7-Eleven in Lanham after visiting relatives.
“The guy was taking forever to choose his tickets. I had somewhere to be and had just about decided to leave when he finished,” she said.
She is a FAST PLAY fan and when she noticed that her favorite $5 game wasn’t among those offered, she made an impulse purchase. Having planned to buy two of her favorite $5 game, she instead picked out the first $10 FAST PLAY ticket she saw – WILLY WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY.
When asked to describe her reaction upon scanning her ticket, the winner had some difficulty: “Shock first, of course. But then joy. I’d been waiting so long for a big win, never really believing it was going to happen.”
The owners of the 7-Eleven at 7900 Good Luck Road in Lanham have reason to be similarly joyful, as they receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the ticket.
The Laurel woman will dedicate much of her FAST PLAY prize to several home improvement projects she has in mind. She’ll save some, though, for travel. Her top-prize winner is the first claimed on the WILLY WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY ticket. Another 13 prizes at the $100,000 level are still available on the game, as are all six of the game’s $50,000 second-tier prizes.
