A Halethorpe resident who said he’s played Maryland Lottery games for many years landed one of his largest prizes thanks to the $20 scratch-off game $50,000 Cash.
“It’s not life changing, but it helps,” he said Feb. 19 when he claimed one of the game’s $50,000 top prizes at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
He’s had a couple of five-digit prize amounts in the past, and said he didn’t expect another big win, but he continues to enjoy playing Lottery games.
“I keep a budget. A win is great. It’s always fun when you do hit,” he said.
As for his plans for his most recent win, the semi-retired Halethorpe man noted that his daughter is expecting a baby later this year, and some of the prize money is headed her way.
He bought the winning ticket at the 7-Eleven at 1313 Francis Avenue in Halethorpe, which receives a bonus of $500. The $50,000 Cash ticket first went on sale in December 2022, and 56 of its $50,000 top prizes remained unclaimed as of Feb. 19, along with thousands of additional prizes ranging from $20 to $5,000.
