Glen Burnie woman claims prize on Million Dollar Mega Multiplier game

“I don’t even play the Lottery,” said an astonished Nichole Balsoma of Glen Burnie as she sat in the Maryland Lottery Winner’s Circle. The lucky novice won $50,000 on the first scratch-off she’s ever bought!

The Anne Arundel County resident said her big win occurred one day when she was deciding whether or not she wanted coffee or an energy drink for her morning beverage. The 28-year-old decided on an energy drink, which changed her trajectory for the better. Nichole ended up visiting Royal Farms #016 located at 6901 Ritchie Highway North in Glen Burnie instead of a local coffee shop. She decided to use her debit card for an energy drink and, one a whim, spent $20 in cash to buy a $20 Million Dollar Mega Multiplier instant ticket.

The lucky newbie began scratching off her game while sitting in the car with her fiancé. She noticed that she had matched the winning numbers on the entire first line of the instant ticket. Her fiancé didn’t believe it and neither did she. In fact, Nichole told Lottery officials that it wasn’t until coming to headquarters and claiming her instant ticket that she really believed she had won.

Nichole is a stay-at-home mom caring for two babies. She and her partner were already planning to buy a house next year and they will put her winnings toward that purchase.
