Lottery Visit Puts Nottingham Player on Path for $50,000 Win

Birthday digits give Victoria Sadler of Nottingham a Pick 5 win.

Claims prize on $1 straight Pick 5 bet

A Baltimore County woman believes she is on a Lottery winning streak after claiming one prize at Lottery headquarters only to score $50,000 later that day playing Pick 5. Victoria Sadler of Nottingham happily claimed her latest prize last week and shared her story.

The 59-year-old was leaving Maryland Lottery headquarters after claiming a second-chance prize and eager to try her luck with Pick 5, her favorite game. She headed across the street from the Lottery offices to Royal Farms #159 and placed a $1 straight bet for the Aug. 10 midday and evening drawings. She played her grandson’s birthday because of her success last year playing his digits. The lucky lady won $25,000 that time and, almost a year later, scored a $50,000 prize.

“When I realized I won, my jaw was on the floor! I was so happy, I couldn’t believe it,” she said. As a former winner, the happy grandmother knew what to do and quickly made an appointment to claim her prize.

When asked how she will spend her new fortune, the loyal player told Lottery officials that she will save and invest much of the prize. She also plans to treat her family to a trip to Walt Disney World.

Her lucky Lottery retailer benefits from her big win, too. Royal Farms #159, located at 1801 Washington Boulevard in Baltimore, will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a $50,000-winning Pick 5 ticket.
