Lucky Feeling Leads Player to Top-Prize Scratch-off Win

Glen Burnie man claims $50,000 prize on $50,000 Cash instant-ticket

Luck was in the air when a Glen Burnie man woke up with the feeling that he should play a Lottery game. He hadn’t played scratch-offs in about six months but followed his gut feeling all the way to his local Lottery retailer, where one of two scratch-offs he bought gave him a $50,000 top prize.

That morning, the 25-year-old told Lottery officials, he had also needed to buy gas for his car so he decided to accomplish both missions at the Mobil gas station in Glen Burnie. He went to its Lottery vending machine and bought the scratch-offs, including his lucky $20 $50,000 Cash game.

Wasting no time, he promptly scratched off his instant tickets once he finished refueling his car. The happy player won a small prize on a $30 scratch-off and the $50,000 top prize on the $50,000 Cash game.

“I was surprised,” the lucky winner said. “I never expected this.” His biggest prize previously was $500. The Anne Arundel County resident, who works as a delivery driver, said he plans to use his windfall to buy a new car.

His lucky Lottery retailer is also a winner. Glen Burnie Mobil located at 7200 Ritchie Highway will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for its role in selling a top-prize winning scratch-off worth $50,000.

The $50,000 Cash ticket went on sale in December beginning with 160 $50,000 top-prizes. There are still 110 top prizes remaining plus more than 790,000 unclaimed prizes ranging from $20 to $5,000.
