Harford County man finds lucky win on 5-spot ticket
Two couples were hanging out one night in December at a favorite Bel Air establishment when “Mark the Lucky Plumber” decided to play a few rounds of Keno.
That wasn’t unusual for the Bel Air area resident, who chose the nickname “Mark the Lucky Plumber” to tell the story of his $60,000 Keno win. He was out for an evening of fun with his sister, brother-in-law and his longtime girlfriend. She stepped away from the table just before he decided Keno time had arrived.
“Mark the Lucky Plumber” asked an employee at Main Street Tower Restaurant and Lounge to ring up a 5-spot Keno ticket for him. The Keno fan added the Super Bonus feature to his ticket and tried his luck for two drawings. He played a set of personal lucky numbers – 1, 13, 19, 50 and 67 – and his girlfriend returned in time to see the first number appear on the Keno screen. In no time at all, he won!
“I played all of my lucky numbers and I hit all of the numbers,” the happy man said. He claimed his $60,000 prize at Lottery headquarters with his girlfriend by his side.
“He’s won before but it’s never anything like this,” she said. “I came back just in time. I literally walked up and in that same moment, the numbers came up.”
“Mark the Lucky Plumber,” who says he is strictly a Keno player, has celebrated lots of three-figure wins over the years. “Keno is fun,” he said. “It’s a good game to sit down with your friends and play.”
His $60,000 score sets a new personal record. “I went all in and it paid off,” he said, smiling. The generous player often buys dinner or drinks for everyone he is with when he hits it big playing Keno, noted his girlfriend. This time, however, “Mark the Lucky Plumber” said he has different plans for the windfall.
The self-employed Harford County resident plans to invest some of his newfound fortune into his plumbing business, use some funds to pay bills and take his girlfriend on vacation to Colorado.
Also celebrating is Main Street Tower Restaurant and Lounge. The Harford County business located at 29 South Main Street in Bel Air will receive a $600 Lottery bonus for selling a winning Keno ticket of $10,000 or more. The bonus is equal to 1% of the prize.
