Lucky Winner Keeps Cool after Scoring Third-Tier Powerball Prize

Baltimore man claims $50,000 win on quick-pick ticket

A lucky Baltimore player is calmly celebrating even after winning the biggest Lottery prize of his life. A $4 quick-pick ticket in the July 15 drawing just earned him a $50,000 third-tier Powerball prize.

The 59-year-old likes to randomly buy Lottery tickets and one day did so at Royal Farms #048 located at 4045 Wilkens Avenue in Baltimore. The lucky winner just moved and would normally use his new address to select his Powerball numbers. This particular day, he decided to go with a quick-pick ticket instead. His $50,000 winning Powerball ticket says that he’s clearly all the better for it.

“I just kept my cool,” the lucky winner said, recalling the moments after he scanned his ticket and learned that he won $50,000.

The loyal player has worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years. When asked of his plans for his prize, he said he wasn’t sure but that it will involve spending time with his family.

Although he bought his lucky ticket when the jackpot annuity was an estimated $875 million, the winner and other players have a new growing jackpot to chase. The estimated annuity for Saturday’s jackpot is $124 million with an estimated cash prize of $62.8 million.
