New Windows Getting Paid Off Early, Thanks to $50K Lottery Prize

Prince George’s County player already looking ahead to her next big win

New windows for her home are already on order, so a $50,000 Maryland Lottery prize came at just the right time for a player from eastern Prince George’s County.

“This was shocking,” the winner said Dec. 27 at Maryland Lottery headquarters. She’s been playing for decades, sporadically when she was younger and more regularly lately. When she bought tickets that included the big winner, she took them home and scratched them, using the Lottery app on her smartphone. When she realized she had won, she checked the $10 Mega Bucks ticket several times and then concluded it was real.

After paying off the new windows for her house early, she plans to put the balance in savings and help her son a little with his student loans.

Asked if she plans to continue playing, she said, “I stopped off across the street on my way in. I’m hoping for a $1 billion win.” The Mega Millions jackpot at the time she claimed her prize was at $1.22 billion with a drawing coming up that same evening.

She bought the hot ticket at Royal Farms, 6460 Capitol Drive, Greenbelt.
