A Baltimore County resident, who relocated from New York, is celebrating a top-prize win worth $57,777 on the Lucky 7s Tripler scratch-off.
The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, visited Maryland Lottery headquarters July 1 to claim her prize and share her story. A relatively new player, she sticks to a routine of buying $20 worth of tickets every other week.
“This was completely unexpected,” she said. “I scanned the ticket at the store and saw the amount I won. I couldn’t believe my eyes!”
The winning ticket was purchased at the Giant store at 8905 Belair Road in Nottingham. She had just stopped in to grab groceries when she decided to pick up a scratch-off. After revealing the prize, she quietly left the store and immediately scanned the ticket again in her car to be sure. After multiple confirmations, she made a quick decision to schedule an appointment and head to Maryland Lottery headquarters to officially claim her prize.
So far, the lucky winner has only shared the news with her husband. As for her plans for the prize, she says, “Right now, I’m just focused on paying bills.” When asked whether she’ll continue to play the Lottery, she added with a smile, “Yes, I’ll definitely play again! I think I’ll stick with my routine $20 every two weeks. That seems responsible after winning a top prize.”
She’s not the only one with reasons to celebrate. Giant will also benefit from the win, receiving a $577.77 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
