Office Pool Celebrates 30-Way Split of $50,000 Powerball Prize

Lucky group wins third-tier prize in Nov. 2 drawing

A group of employees decided to pool their cash and their chances of getting a piece of the record-breaking Powerball jackpot in November. A few of them bought tickets as it rolled, week after week, but decided to team up when the jackpot climbed over the $1 billion mark.

While they didn’t hit the jackpot in the Nov. 2 drawing, they did win a $50,000 third-tier prize.

The appointed leader of the group is a 31-year-old Pasadena woman. She bought their lucky ticket at High’s #062 located at 2861 Jessup Road in Jessup.

The Anne Arundel County resident is also responsible for selecting the winning numbers using a set of important dates as inspiration. “I was so excited, I think I almost had a heart attack,” the happy player said. She didn’t know what the other winners planned to do with their share of the prize, but she said the newfound fortune came just in time for the holidays. She and her husband plan to shower their son with holiday gifts.

The next drawing is tonight, Nov. 21, for an estimated annuity of $20 million or an estimated cash value of $10.2 million. A Kansas player hit the $92.9 million jackpot on Nov. 19.
