Pennsylvania Pair Seeing Double after $100,000 Maryland Lottery Win

The Pennsylvania couple “’Bout Time” are adding the proceeds of a $100,000 Maryland Lottery win to their retirement account, thanks to a top tier win on the $10 scratch-off game Double Your Money.

A man from Adams County, Pa., and his wife were seeing double after revealing a $100,000 prize while scratching a Double Your Money instant ticket. The couple, calling themselves “’Bout Time,” claimed their prize Aug. 19 at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

The pair picked up a couple of the new $10 scratch-offs when a change of plans and some errands took them to Silver Run Liquors at 3957 Littlestown Pike about halfway between Westminster and the Pennsylvania state line.

The avid Lottery scratch players recognized the Double Your Money scratch-off, which went on sale in mid-July, explaining that they study the scratch-off page on the Maryland Lottery website.

“I knew that ticket was brand new and I had a feeling that one of those top prizes was going to hit soon,” one of the two said.

Once home the ticket was scratched slowly – first revealing the ticket’s winning numbers and then looking for number matches lower on the ticket. When one of the numbers matched, the corresponding prize was also revealed slowly, one number at a time until the six-digit prize appeared.

“When I called out that we had a winner, she didn’t believe me. After checking it several times, we had to go back out to a store to have it checked again,” one said of the other.

The “‘Bout Time” winners said they will be putting their winnings into savings, adding that it will add a bit of a cushion to their retirement fund.

The Double Your Money scratch-off launched with tens of thousands of prizes ranging from $20 to $50,000 and 14 top prizes at the $100,000 level.
