Powerball Delivers $1 Million Win in Jessup, Jackpot Rolls to $1.23 Billion

$1 million winner sold in Jessup; $50,000 Double Play ticket sold in Baltimore City

The Powerball jackpot has rolled to $1.23 billion for the next drawing on Saturday, but Wednesday night’s Powerball and Powerball Double Play drawings produced two big wins here in Maryland.

In the Powerball drawing, a $1 million winning ticket was sold at Royal Farms #230 located at 7136 Montevideo Road in Jessup (Howard County). It is the fifth $1 million-winning Powerball ticket sold in Maryland during the current jackpot roll, and was one of nine $1 million winners sold across the country in the April 3 drawing. The ticket matched the first five numbers (11, 38, 41, 62 and 65), but did not match the Powerball number (15). The Royal Farms store will receive a $2,500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the ticket.

The Powerball Double Play drawing produced a $50,000 winning ticket sold at Oak Street Station Oceanic located at 2040 North Howard Street in Baltimore City. Double Play is a separate drawing that occurs 30 minutes after the main Powerball drawing. Tickets for Powerball cost $2, and players have the option to add Double Play to their ticket for an additional $1, making their ticket good for both drawings. The ticket sold at Oak Street Station Oceanic matched four of the first five numbers and the Powerball number in the Double Play drawing. The winning Double Play numbers were 10, 44, 53, 60 and 63; and the Powerball was 13.

During the current jackpot roll (Jan. 2, 2024 through April 4, 2024), Powerball players in Maryland have won more than $11.4 million in prizes. Powerball sales during that span have been more than $41.3 million, with an estimated $10.6 million from those sales contributed to state programs and services. Contributions to the state from Lottery ticket sales go to Maryland’s General Fund.

There were a total of 57,418 winning tickets in Maryland from last night’s Powerball drawing, with prizes ranging from $4 to $1 million. Wednesday’s Double Play drawing produced another 5,451 winning tickets with prizes ranging from $7 to $50,000. Winners of Maryland Lottery draw games have 182 days from the drawing date to claim their prizes.

The jackpot for the next Powerball drawing on Saturday night has an estimated annuity value of $1.23 billion, with an estimated cash option of $595.1 million. If the jackpot is hit at $1.23 billion on Saturday, it would be the fourth-largest in Powerball history and the eighth-largest in U.S. lottery history. The jackpot was last hit on New Year’s Day when an $842.4 million prize was won on a ticket sold in Michigan.

The other eight $1 million winning tickets in Wednesday night’s drawing were sold in California (2), Massachusetts (2), Georgia, New Jersey, South Carolina and Washington.
