As the Powerball jackpot grew to $1.7 billion because no one has matched all six numbers, the game continues making lower tier big winners in Maryland, including a $1 million prize on a ticket sold in Pikesville on the Wednesday (Sept. 3) drawing.
The Wednesday drawing also produced four third-tier prizes of $50,000 each on tickets sold in Dundalk, Germantown, Laurel, Severn and Temple Hills.
The winning numbers for the Sept. 3 drawing are: 3, 16, 29, 61, 69; the Powerball is 22.
The $1 million ticket was sold at the Slade BP Gas Station at 524 Reisterstown Road in Pikesville. The second-tier winner matched all five balls, but not the Powerball. The Baltimore County retailer is also a big winner as it will receive a $2,500 bonus for selling the ticket.
The $50,000 winners matched four of the first five balls plus the Powerball for the third-tier prizes. Those tickets were purchased at the following locations:
- Royal Farms, 7701 German Hill Road, Dundalk (Baltimore County)
- Shoppers, 18066 Mateny Road, Germantown (Montgomery County)
- Shoppers, 13600 Baltimore Ave, Laurel (Prince George’s County)
- S&W Liquors, 7072 Allentown Rd, Temple Hills (Prince George’s County)
After the Sept. 3 drawing, the Powerball jackpot rolled to an estimated annuity value of $1.7 billion for Saturday, Sept. 6, making it the game’s third-largest prize ever. The estimated one-time payment option is $770.3 million.
The Powerball jackpot roll started on June 1 and has resulted in $12 million in player prizes in Maryland. The high tier winners include: three $1 million winners, three $500,000 Double Play winners, four $150,000 winners, a $100,000 winner and 21 winners at the $50,000 level.
The latest roll has produced $47.9 million in sales in Maryland, including an estimated contribution to the state of $11.9 million (25 percent of sales). Maryland retailers have received sales commissions totaling $2.7 million (5.75 percent of sales).
Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, along with Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Both the Powerball and Double Play drawings have nine different prize tiers, with Powerball ranging from $4 up to the jackpot and Double Play ranging from $7 up to $10 million.
Winners are encouraged to sign the backs of tickets and keep winning tickets in a safe location. Tickets for draw games expire 182 days after the drawing date.
