Bought top-prize winning ticket in Jan. 14 Bonus Match 5 drawing
Going back to sleep wasn’t in the cards for a Maryland Lottery player who discovered a big Bonus Match 5 win when she awoke before dawn and checked her ticket.
The Suitland resident, who routinely plays a variety of Lottery games including Powerball and scratch-offs, had gone to bed on Jan. 14 without checking the winning Bonus Match 5 numbers against her $6 quick-pick ticket.
When she awoke early the next morning and realized she won the game’s $50,000 top prize, the 57-year-old couldn’t believe her eyes. “I was so shocked,” she told Lottery officials.
Her plans for her prize, other than keeping it a secret, involve buying a new TV and putting the rest of the funds into the bank.
For its role in selling a top-prize winning Bonus Match 5 ticket, Silver Hill Exxon located at 5921 Marlboro Pike in District Heights receives a $500 bonus from the Lottery. This was the fifth top-prize winning Bonus Match 5 ticket sold in Maryland in 2022.
