Prince George’s County Woman Fills Up Gas Tank, Bank Account

Wins $50,000 playing Lucky Times 10 scratch-off

Last month, a trip to the gas station led to a $50,000 Lottery scratch-off win. A 61-year-old Fort Washington woman filled up more than her gas tank during her lucky stop.

The retired Washington, D.C. government employee was at South Potomac Shell located at 9100 Livingston Road in Fort Washington, getting gas, when she decided to also play some of her favorite Lottery games. She purchased a variety of games including a $10 Lucky Times 10 scratch-off. She pocketed the purchase and went home for dinner. Later that evening, she played her scratch-offs and revealed a $50,000 prize.

“I thought it was for $50 at first,” said the winner. “But, as I continued to scratch, I saw more and more zeros!” The mother and grandmother was actually holding a $50,000 win.

The lucky player wanted to share her good news and texted her siblings a picture of the winning instant ticket. They are unfamiliar with Lottery games and were confused.

“Each of them texted me back, ‘What does this mean?’” she said, laughing. “It means I won $50,000.”

The big winner then called one of her sons to come over and verify her Lottery luck.

“He said, ‘Mom, you really won,’” said the winner. She then made plans to claim the prize and put the scratch-off in a safe location. Claiming the prize this week, she shared with Lottery officials that she will help family members financially using her recent small fortune and will save whatever is left.

There are still five $50,000 prizes remaining in the Lucky Times 10 game. The game also has five top prizes of $100,000 remaining, 24 $10,000 unclaimed prizes along with hundreds of thousands of prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000 waiting to be claimed on the game.
