Randallstown Grandmother Keeping Quiet about $200,000 Lottery Win

Player’s big win on Ravens X10 ticket will help her grandchildren pay for college

A low key grandmother from Randallstown was thinking about her late husband, who was an avid Maryland Lottery player, and decided to purchase a $10 Ravens X10 ticket. She won $200,000.

“My late husband used to play,” she said April 16 after claiming her prize. As for her ticket selection, she said, “there was no rhyme or reason to it.”

When she scratched the ticket and realized she had won, she kept her emotions in check. A son accompanied her to claim the prize. She said he’s the only one she told and, “no one else will know.”

Asked if she had any plans for the money, she said simply: “I have grandkids who’ll be going to college.”

Her son interjected: “Go Ravens!” With that, the two headed home.

The big ticket was sold at the Royal Farms store at 15 Hanover Pike in Reisterstown. The store receives a bonus of $1,000.

The Ravens X10 ticket is in the 15th spot on the Lottery’s top 40 scratch-offs list, despite the NFL season having concluded months ago. The top-tier $200,000 prize claimed by the Randallstown player is the sixth to be claimed of the original nine at that level, leaving three more top prizes unclaimed.
