Ravens X10 Scratch-off Brings Luck to Pittsburgh Steelers Fan

A Pittsburgh Steelers fan recently scratched his way to a $200,000 Ravens X10 scratch-off top prize. “I guess I’ll have to root for the Ravens now,” he joked while claiming his prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters on May 19.

The Hagerstown resident stopped at a Sheetz store in April while on a break from work. He purchased a few tickets, including the Ravens X10 scratch-off, and waited until later to scratch them at home.

He was in his basement scratching away when the huge prize was revealed. Like many players, he prefers to scratch his numbers and the winning numbers first to see if there is a match before revealing the prize amounts. He found a match on the Ravens X10 ticket, and to his disbelief, the prize underneath was $200,000.

“I thought something was wrong with the ticket and called my wife down to look at it,” said the winner.

“I told him it was a winning ticket,” his wife, who accompanied him to claim the prize, said. “We locked the ticket up, but he kept going back and checking it.”

“I’m surprised I had any kind of luck on that game,” the Washington County man chuckled, referring to the fact that he is a Steelers fan.

The winner said he plans to use his prize towards home improvements, bills and possibly a new car.

The Sheetz store is located at 10515 Sharpsburg Pike in Hagerstown. The store will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling the $200,000 top-prize winning ticket.
