Retired Federal Employee Taken by Surprise with $100,000 Lottery Win

Wicomico County woman claims third-tier Powerball prize

A Wicomico County woman was out grocery shopping when she decided to pick up a Powerball ticket. Little did she know, she would soon be $100,000 richer.

She bought her ticket at the Walmart at 409 North Fruitland Boulevard in Fruitland. She knew that one of her lines had 15 as the Powerball number, so when she learned that a 15 was drawn for the Powerball, she quickly checked her ticket. That’s when the Wicomico County resident saw that she matched four white balls and the Powerball. Typically, that would be a $50,000 prize, but the Lottery player added the Power Play option when purchasing the ticket. The Power Play multiplier for that drawing was x2, which gave her the $100,000 win.

Soon after her big discovery, she shared the news with her son. After donating to her local church, the retired USDA worker plans to use her winnings to do some home remodeling and possibly take a vacation.
