Retiree Nearly Trashes $30,000 Winning FAST PLAY Ticket

Congratulations to Jorge Baez Ventura of Bowie on winning $30,000 on a FAST PLAY ticket.

Prince George’s County man claims top prize in BATTLESHIP game

Bowie resident Jorge Baez Ventura almost sank his own battleship loaded with Lottery cash. He had a winning FAST PLAY BATTLESHIP™* ticket in his possession for five days and nearly trashed it before discovering he won a $30,000 top prize.

The retired contractor bought his $3 ticket at Hampton Mall Exxon in Capitol Heights. He had bought $20 worth of scratch-offs that day and won $3. Jorge then took his $3 prize, which was the last of the money he had allotted for Lottery play, to buy the FAST PLAY BATTLESHIP ticket.

Fast forward five days later to the moment the very happy player discovered his $30,000 fortune. He won the first of 10 top prizes in the game, which went on sale in 2023. Jorge called his daughter to tell her how lucky and excited he was and explained that he nearly threw away the prize-winning ticket.

Jorge told Lottery officials that he plans to use his winnings to take care of his family, which includes four children and his wife. He also plans to visit the Dominican Republic.

Hampton Mall Exxon located at 8901 Central Avenue in Capitol Heights also is a winner. The Prince George’s County Lottery retailer will receive a $300 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning FAST PLAY ticket worth $30,000.
