Salisbury-Area Player Starts 2022 with $50,000 Scratch-off Prize

Holiday Riches instant ticket remains popular

A player from the greater Salisbury area on the Eastern Shore celebrated the New Year and her upcoming birthday in style by visiting Maryland Lottery headquarters. She claimed a $50,000 prize on the Holiday Riches scratch-off game.

The player, whose 67th birthday is in late January, matched the number “08” among the four winning Holiday Numbers to that number on her ticket. Beneath the number, she revealed the game’s $50,000 top prize.

The lucky lady bought the hot $5 instant ticket at Food Lion #0800 located at 817 Snow Hill Road in Salisbury. For selling a top-prize winning scratch-off, the Wicomico County store receives a bonus of $500 from the Lottery. The bonus is equal to 1% of the prize value.

Although the holiday season is over, the Holiday Riches instant ticket remains popular and is perched at the No. 5 spot on the Lottery’s Top 40 Scratch-Offs list. This latest prize collected leaves another four $50,000 prizes, out of the original eight, unclaimed. In addition, five of the original 11 second-tier $5,000 prizes are unclaimed along with more than 560,000 prizes ranging from $5 to $1,000.
