A semi-retired writer from Waldorf just took home a win of a lifetime. It was as if she were writing this story herself as she said she always knew she would win a big Lottery prize one day. Her story arc reached a peak April 24 when she claimed a $100,000 top-prize on the $10 50X the Cash scratch-off game.
She bought the winning ticket at the Giant supermarket at 3297 Crain Highway in Waldorf, but first she started buying four $5 scratch-off tickets, none of which were winners. Instead of giving up, she decided to give it another go and bought two 50X the Cash tickets. The first of the two was not a winner, but the second ticket displayed a 10X symbol on a $10,000 prize giving her a $100,000 payday.
After staring at the ticket in near disbelief, she checked the Maryland Lottery website to confirm the win, then promptly signed the back of the ticket.
The Waldorf woman says she may take an overseas trip, but she is definitely planning to use some of her winnings for home remodeling. In addition, some will go into savings.
Giant supermarket will collect a $1,000 bonus.
The 50X the Cash ticket launched in January beginning with nine $100,000 top-prizes. There are still four remaining along with seven $50,000 prizes and several smaller prizes.
