Serious-Minded Severn Man Scores Substantial Sum on Scratch-Off

Winner plans to start a business with $100,000 prize

A serious-minded Anne Arundel County resident won a serious amount of money on a Bingo X10 scratch-off and he has a no-nonsense plan for his $100,000 prize.

“The plan was there before the money,” he said on Dec. 20 after claiming his windfall at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

“I am going to get a truck and start a business,” he said. The Caribbean native emigrated to Maryland about a decade ago and has worked in landscaping. Starting a business is a next logical step for him.

The Severn man said he has no plans to change his scratch-off play routine. He will continue to play bingo-themed Lottery scratch-offs from time to time.

“I love to play bingo when I sit home on the weekend,” he said. He plans to keep playing exactly as he has in the past. “It won’t change now. I want to be more concerned, more careful. If my mind says, ‘Buy a ticket,’ I will.”

Scoring a bonus for his choice of a $100,000 top-prize winning game is Arundel Mills Exxon at 7043 Arundel Mills Circle in Hanover. The Anne Arundel County business will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery. The bonus is equal to 1% of the prize.

This is the third $100,000 top prize of seven claimed on the $10 Bingo X10 game, leaving another four such prizes up for grabs. The game also has five remaining $10,000 prizes along with tens of thousands of prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.
