Severn Woman Wins Record $139,194 on World Championship Poker Game

Money to go toward new car, golf clubs and children’s college expenses

An Anne Arundel County woman said she was overcome with joy as she won a $139,194 progressive jackpot on a FAST PLAY World Championship Poker ticket. The prize is the largest of the five progressive jackpots won to date in the $5 game.

“I started to scream when I won. I am glad no one was around,” she said with a grin.

The Severn resident, who has two college-age children, said some of the money will go toward their college expenses. The lucky lady also plans to buy a new car and has started to play golf.

“I going to get some new golf clubs,” she said.

She bought the winning ticket at Georgetown Deli & Convenience located at 2829 Georgetown Road in Baltimore City. For its role in selling the ticket, the business earns a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery.

The 52-year-old player is the fifth progressive jackpot winner in the FAST PLAY World Championship Poker series. Ten progressive jackpots remain. In this game, the progressive jackpot starts at $40,000 and increases with the sale of each ticket until a player buys a progressive jackpot-winning ticket. There are six $5,000 prizes remaining along with more than 974,000 others ranging from $5 to $1,000.
