A Silver Spring man who plays various Maryland Lottery games regularly recently tried his luck at Pick 5. He bought a four-draw ticket for August 3 and 4 for midday and evening drawings. By the end of the day on Aug. 4, he was celebrating a $50,000 prize.
The Montgomery County resident said Aug. 6 when he claimed the prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore that he was very happy about his win. His only plan as of claiming the prize was to put the money in savings at his bank.
He bought the ticket at Quality Beer and Wine at 13826 Old Columbia Pike in Silver Spring, which is near where he works. The store receives a bonus of $500, equal to 1% of the prize total.
