Sister’s Tips Lead to $50,000 Scratch-Off Prize for in Owings Mills

A Baltimore County woman has her sister to thank for a big Lottery win. The sister gave her some about changing things up and the result was a $50,000 prize on the $5 ticket Money Maker.

One of the suggestions was to change purchase spots, so the player went to the High’s convenience store at 11260 Dolfield Boulevard in Owings Mills where she bought a single $5 ticket.

Later, while at at home watching television and a snack, she decided to scratch her ticket. In the winning numbers field was 20 and, as luck would have it, in the Your Numbers field there was also a 20, perched above a $50,000 prize.

She was in in shock and disbelief upon examining her ticket, she said Dec. 22 after claiming her prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

Not being completely sure of what she was seeing, she called the sister who had given the hot tip to confirm.

“This doesn’t look real,” she told her sister. Her sister, the lottery aficionado, confirmed it was real.

The Baltimore County woman is a caretaker for the state and enjoys traveling. She plans to use some of her winnings for a holiday-themed pajama party.

The High’s also has a reason to celebrate, as the store receives a $500 bonus.

The Money Maker ticket launched at the beginning of December and this win is the second top-tier $50,000 prize to be claimed of nine available.
