A Baltimore City woman can thank special numbers related to a family member for a recent $60,272 Racetrax win. She was out and about on Nov. 2 playing some of her other favorite Lottery games at Snacks and Keno in Baltimore when the thought came to her to play Racetrax with the numbers.
She placed a $1 Superfecta bet for the horses 7, 11, 5 and 6 to come across the finish line in that order. She started playing these numbers awhile back when a family member became ill.
“He was always in my corner making sure I played those special numbers,” she said. “He would say, ‘Keep playing them and to have faith’.”
That family member recently passed away, but player took his advice and kept playing the numbers. She believes he was speaking to her the day her numbers came out.
“I was waiting for a lady in front of me taking forever at the machine,” the winner said Nov. 3 when she claimed her prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore, husband at her side. “And something said, ‘Don’t turn away, play my numbers’.”
The retired federal employee decided to wait her turn and played her games, including Racetrax with the numbers. She went home and checked her tickets later on her phone.
“Me and my husband were watching television, when I pulled up the numbers,” she said. “And there they were, straight in a row.”
The big winner showed her husband for confirmation. He looked up the Racetrax prize chart to see her winnings.
“I told her she hit for $60 grand,” he said. “She dropped to her knees and was so grateful.”
The thankful winner said the win is definitely a “blessing” and she plans to pay off some debt and share some of the prize money with her husband.
This is not the winner’s first brush with a big Lottery win. In 2024, she won $30,070 playing Racetrax.
Snacks and Keno will celebrate too. Located at 6408 Reisterstown Road in Baltimore City, the shop will receive a $602.72 bonus from the Lottery.
