Three Generations in Harford Celebrate $30,000 Lottery Scratch-Off Win

A Harford County woman visited Lottery headquarters Feb. 23 to claim a prize and says she was accompanied in spirit by her father and grandmother. The three enjoy a family hobby together: scratching Lottery tickets. Their most memorable get-together, she reports, is the most recent thanks to the biggest win any of the three has ever uncovered, a $30,000 Diamond Bingo top prize.

“As often as we can, we meet up to scratch a few tickets together,” the Abingdon resident said. Their schedules lined up two weeks ago and it was her dad who was assigned to pick up the tickets.

“Grandma and I love bingo games, so we asked him to look for those,” she said.

Soon after the three got to work on their tickets, the winner gave out a shout.

“I saw a $1,000 win on my ticket! I couldn’t believe it,” she recounted.

Passing her Diamond Bingo winner around, the most veteran player of the three wasn’t quite sure about the win total.

“I was disappointed until grandma told me she thought it might be even more,” the winner said.

To settle all questions, dad drove to a nearby Lottery retailer to scan the ticket. Moments later his daughter’s phone was ringing.

“I was ready for it not to be a winner at all, so when he said $30,000, I about lost my mind!”

Diamond Bingo is a $3 scratch-off that debuted in June 2025 with seven top prizes. Four $30,000 top prizes remain unclaimed on the game, along with 55 of the game’s $1,000 second-tier prizes. The Baltimore County business that sold the big winner, Tempo Lounge at 402 Back Neck River Road in Essex, received a $300 bonus for selling the top-prize-winning ticket.
