Scratch-off hands another player a top-prize win

It’s not every day one receives a fortune cookie prediction that actually comes true. A Baltimore County resident got his “pleasant surprise” the very next day when he won a $50,000 top prize playing the MONOPOLY™ X20 game.
Benjamin Marcantoni bought his winning scratch-off at Royal Farms #074 located at 1525 East Joppa Road in Baltimore. The 22-year-old said that he doesn’t often play scratch-offs. On the day he found his $50,000 prize, the Towson resident recalls being bored and deciding on a whim to try his luck with the $5 instant ticket.
His mother joined him in the Lottery Winner’s Circle. When Benjamin called her with news of his good fortune, she told Lottery officials that she advised him to take his instant ticket back to the retailer to have it scanned. After his win was confirmed, Benjamin says he was in shock.
“It didn’t seem real,” he said.
In fact, the infrequent Lottery player said his win didn’t hit home until after he arrived at Maryland Lottery headquarters to claim his prize.
Benjamin doesn’t have any solid plans for his winnings yet, but said he is thinking of gifting some of it and also putting a portion of the windfall into savings.
His Baltimore County Lottery retailer can also celebrate. The store earns a bonus of $500 from the Lottery for its role in selling a $50,000 top-prize winning scratch-off.
The $5 MONOPOLY™ X20 game has five $50,000 top prizes and over 800,000 unclaimed prizes ranging from $5 to $5,000 awaiting discovery.
The game is part of the MONOPOLY™ Second-Chance Promotion from the Maryland Lottery. The following scratch-offs joined the $5 instant ticket: $1 MONOPOLY™ X5, $2 MONOPOLY™ X10 and $10 MONOPOLY™ X50. In addition, two FAST PLAY games were introduced: $3 MONOPOLY™ Game Tokens and $20 MONOPOLY™ Properties.
Players can enter any non-winning MONOPOLY™ scratch-off and winning or non-winning FAST PLAY MONOPOLY™ tickets into My Lottery Rewards for a chance to win cash prizes. Six drawings will take place, with each drawing awarding one Rolling Cash Jackpot and ten $2,500 prizes.
