Truck Driver Rolls into Lottery Headquarters to Claim $50,000 Prize

Unloads winning Pick 5 ticket from March 28 drawing

A Silver Spring man who drives a truck for a living said he travels around the state to different job sites. A fan of the Lottery’s Pick 3, Pick 4 and Pick 5 games, he will spot numbers as he drives that inspire him to give them a try in an upcoming drawing.

“Sometimes, the number appears three or four times,” he said, “and I’ll play it.” That was the case with his $50,000-winning $1 straight bet ticket in the March 28 Pick 5 drawing. His lucky combination was 68919.

The Montgomery County resident bought the Pick 5 ticket for the evening drawing at Colesville Beer & Wine in Silver Spring. While waiting to pick up his wife from her job, the anonymous player checked his ticket for a win and realized Lottery luck had come his way. The happy husband plans to spend his prize on a celebratory meal and use it to pay bills.

His Lottery retailer can also celebrate. For selling a $50,000-winning Pick 5 ticket, Colesville Beer & Wine located at 13468 New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
