Upper Marlboro Marathon Runner Wins Race for $100,000 Lottery Prize

Claims big win on $100,000 Lucky scratch-off

A Prince George’s County resident who laces up his lucky running shoes regularly to train for and race in marathons beat a crowd of Maryland Lottery players to a big win. He claimed the $100,000 top prize on a $100,000 Lucky scratch-off.

The Upper Marlboro man found the 15th of 65 $100,000 top prizes on the $30 game. A self-professed marathon enthusiast, the former U.S. Marine has run close to 70 marathons. He has also collected several big Lottery prizes on his way to getting $100,000 richer. While in the Winner’s Circle at Lottery headquarters, the 66-year-old recalled winning at least two $50,000 prizes and one $100,000 prize from both the Maryland Lottery and D.C. Lottery.

“I have very good luck,” he said.

Lothian Mart, located at 5423 Southern Maryland Boulevard in Lothian, also can celebrate. For selling a $100,000 top-prize winning scratch-off, the Anne Arundel County retailer receives a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery.

The $100,000 Lucky game still has plenty of prizes awaiting discovery. Players can look for 50 more $100,000 top prizes, 31 unclaimed $5,000 prizes and more than 950,000 others ranging from $30 to $500. This game is one of five $30 instant tickets available.
