Yvonne Hodge of Upper Marlboro won $75,000 from the X the Cash second-chance promotion.
Yvonne Hodge of Upper Marlboro claimed the $75,000 X the Cash second-chance promotion grand prize.
“It was something that I never expected. I’m glad my name popped up,” Yvonne said.
According to the mother of four adult children, she didn’t believe she was a winner. She was selected after she entered her non-winning tickets into her My Lottery Rewards account.
The Prince George’s County resident said she was skeptical after a Lottery official contacted her about the big win, but her husband talked her into claiming the prize.
“Seventy-five thousand dollars is too much money to ignore,” her husband said with a smile.
The couple confirmed the prize was real by checking the X the Cash page on mdlottery.com and noticed Yvonne’s name listed as a winner.
The retired retail worker said she plans to use the money to help out her daughter and place the rest of the prize into savings.
Four other winners took home $50,000 prizes earlier in the promotion.
The X the Cash family of games launched on Jan. 9 and there are still many great prizes remaining. The series features scratch-offs with price points from $1 to $30 and top prizes up to $2 million.
