Virginia Man Wins $30,734 Maryland Lottery Racetrax Prize

Quick stop on way home from work produces big win

A Virginia man is celebrating a $30,734 Racetrax win after a stop at a Maryland Lottery retailer. The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, purchased the ticket on April 6 from CD Liquors while on his way home from work.

He played a $1 Trifecta ticket on horses 10, 11, and 12 for 20 races. In a rush to get home for dinner with his family, he tucked the ticket into his pocket and forgot about it until later that night.

“I was emptying my pockets before bed when I saw the ticket,” the winner shared. “I hadn’t even scanned it yet. I pulled up the Lottery app and couldn’t believe it when I saw the amount—I think I was in shock.”

The lucky player has kept a low profile since the win, revealing he has only shared the exciting news with his brother. When asked about his plans for the prize money, he admitted he hasn’t made any major decisions yet but intends to save most of it.

The Maryland Lottery retailer who sold the winning ticket, CD Liquors at 4945 Marlboro Pike in Capitol Heights, will also receive a bonus of $307.34, equal to one percent of the prize.
