A man from Windsor Mill enjoys playing the Maryland Lottery’s Racetrax because “it’s a good game,” but it got even better for him on June 26 when he won $76,522 on a Superfecta bet.
He stopped at the Woodlawn Shell gas station and bet on horses 3, 7, 12 and 11 to finish in that order, buying 20 races for $20, then headed home. At home later in the day, he checked the ticket.
“He was sitting in the basement and he started shouting, ‘I won! I won!’” said his brother who accompanied him July 15 to claim the prize at Lottery headquarters.
The winner said he plans to use the extra money to make a down payment on a house.
The brother is hopeful about returning to the Lottery in the future.
“I would like to come back with a Mega Millions or Powerball win,” he said.
Woodlawn Shell, at 6600 Security Boulevard in Baltimore County receives a bonus of $765.22 for selling a Racetrax ticket worth $10,000 or more.
