As the Powerball powered past half a billion dollars when no one matched all six numbers in last night’s drawing, a player in Greenbelt matched five of six for a third-tier $50,000 win.
The $50,000 ticket was sold at Greenway Liquors at 7533 Greenbelt Road in Prince George’s County.
The winning Powerball numbers for the July 15 drawing are: 02, 07, 18, 29 and 38 with Powerball of 16. One player matched the numbers on four of the first five white balls drawn, plus the red Powerball for the third-tier win.
Since the last time the Powerball jackpot was hit on May 2, Powerball players in Maryland have won more than $3.1 million in prizes. The $50,000 winner in Greenbelt last night was the 11th Powerball prize of $50,000 or more won during the jackpot roll. The largest was a $100,000 winning ticket sold June 20 in Edgewood.
Three other $50,000 Powerball prizes from this jackpot run remain unclaimed as of July 16:
- Ticket sold May 22 at Korner Liquors, 3120 Old Washington Road in Waldorf
- Ticket sold June 26 at Crown Liquors, 6579 Ager Road in Hyattsville
- Ticket sold July 2 at Veterans Liquors, 11620 Baltimore Ave. in Beltsville.
All the jackpots are rolling. Since there were no top-tier winners in last night’s drawing, Saturday night’s Powerball jackpot has an estimated annuity value of $526 million with a one-time payment option of $233.5 million. Mega Millions returns on Friday with an estimated annuity jackpot of $643 million, and the Maryland-only game Multi-Match is back tonight with an estimated annuity jackpot at $2 million jackpot with a one-time payment option of $1.125 million.
Lottery officials urge the winners to sign the backs of their tickets and put them in safe places. Winners have 182 days to claim their prizes.
Instructions for claiming prizes are available on the How to Claim page of the Lottery website. Prizes of more than $25,000 must be claimed through Lottery headquarters, either in person or by mail.
