$100,000 Scratch-off Win a High Note for Baltimore Musician

Lottery luck was shining on a 25-year-old Baltimore man on Sunday when his hunger for a sandwich led to a full tummy and a full bank account. He bought a $100,000 Lucky scratch-off and won the game’s $100,000 top prize.

The instant ticket fan worked up an appetite riding around his neighborhood and stopped at Sun M Food Market in Baltimore for a cheesesteak sub. While there, he decided to play some of the $20 and $30 scratch-off games. The city resident scratched through the games and won $100.

“I thought, ‘Yes, I won my money back,’” said the big winner. As he celebrated, the store was about to close so he quickly used some of his winnings to buy one more instant ticket. He chose the $30 $100,000 Lucky game. To save time, he scanned the barcode on the game and was blown away by the message that said he won $100,000!

“I just got dizzy,” said the winner. “I thought I might pass out.”

In shock, the single father of one scanned the instant ticket a second time and the message was the same. He immediately put the scratch-off away and headed home. The lucky player knew the Lottery was closed on Sundays and made an appointment to claim his $100,000 prize on Tuesday.

“I had a feeling a win was coming,” said the scratch-off fan. “I told the cashier that I was going to win one day.”

The avid player, who works in the music industry, told Lottery officials that he tries to give back to his community when he can. He plans to do just that with his winnings by helping those in need as well as his family. The big winner will also spend some of the prize on his music career and invest the rest.

The retailer that sold the winning instant ticket is lucky, too. Sun M Food Market located at 2646 Polk Street in Baltimore City will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling a $100,000 top-prize winning scratch-off.

Plenty of prizes remain in the $100,000 Lucky scratch-off game, which went on sale in September 2021. Try your luck winning 47 unclaimed $100,000 top prizes, 30 available $5,000 prizes and more than 800,000 others ranging from $30 to $500.
