$7 Powerball Prize Turns into $50,000 Win for Landover Woman

Player uses same numbers to win again

A Prince George’s County woman used a $7 Powerball win to help secure a $50,000 prize in the April 1 drawing.

The lucky woman played the numbers 15, 24, 40, 42 and 56 with the Powerball of 23 and matched two numbers with the Powerball to secure a $7 prize. She was so happy with that win that she decided to play those same numbers again.

This time, the drawing results doubled her matching numbers while greatly increasing her prize. The cleaning service worker matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball for a $50,000 win. Had she played the number 19 instead of 15, she could have claimed an estimated $975 million jackpot. However, winning the $50,000 prize was a wonderful experience.

“I was crying tears of joy,” said the excited winner. She is undecided on how she will spend her newfound fortune.

She bought the $2 ticket at Bill’s Wine & Liquor in Prince George’s County. The Hyattsville retailer is located at 7431 Annapolis Road.
