Canton Jackpot Chaser Captures $50,000 Powerball Prize

Wins big while playing an online game

A Baltimore City resident was home playing an online game when she suddenly discovered she was $50,000 richer, thanks to her lucky Powerball ticket.

The Canton woman had purchased $20 worth of tickets for the Nov. 5 drawing from Royal Farms #111 at 1200 Ponca Street in Baltimore. She doesn’t play Powerball regularly but was hoping to win a piece of the $1.586 billion jackpot up for grabs in that drawing.

“When I heard that a $50,000 ticket was sold at the Royal Farms on Ponca, I knew it was me before I checked my tickets,” she said. “I started with the Powerball and saw that I got that. Then, I was wondering how much I won.”

The 45-year-old continued to check her lucky ticket against the winning numbers and saw she had lots of matches in addition to the Powerball. She matched four out of the five white ball numbers and came so close to a jackpot win! The winner said she is very grateful for her $50,000 prize and plans to use it to pay off bills.

“This was such a blessing,” she said.

Powerball drawings occur on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday evenings. The Jan. 4 jackpot has rolled to an estimated $291 million with an estimated cash value of $147.9 million.
