After more than 20 years of playing the Lottery, David has struck gold. The Severna Park retiree claimed a $77,777 top prize on a Lucky 7s Multiplier scratch-off within the first month of the ticket’s release.
The winner, who typically plays Keno, decided to buy a few scratch-offs one evening, including a $10 Lucky 7s Multiplier.
“When I scanned the ticket and saw, ‘Winner, see retailer,’ I thought the machine glitched,” he recalled with a laugh. “I asked the clerk to scan it again. When he confirmed the prize, I screamed out loud. I was so happy!”
David claimed his prize on June 18 at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. He told officials he plans to use his winnings to buy a new truck.
He’s not the only one who wins. Corwell & Son Liquors at 170 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. in Severna Park will receive a $777.77 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
This was the second $77,777 top-prize claimed on this ticket, with eight remaining. There are 20 $10,000 prizes still up for grabs, along with hundreds of thousands of prizes between $10 and $1,000.
